Overview
The project's scope involved the extension of the existing Shores building at Bluewave Living in Woy Woy, incorporating 26 new bedrooms, 4 kitchens, and living areas. Additionally, Crossmuller executed new maintenance shed install and a comprehensive commercial kitchen overhaul. Crossmuller achieved a complete Main Switchboard (MSB) upgrade, including the installation of a 450KVA generator, and installed power and lighting systems both internally, externally, and for emergency purposes. Crossmuller also implemented a DALI lighting control system and MATV along with four new sub boards within the East and West wing and managed the power and lights installation for the new commercial kitchen.
The Challenge
The primary hurdle was to minimize power outages while upgrading the building's supply from 400A to 630A. Given the building's 24/7 operation with numerous residents relying on continuous power, Crossmuller devised a strategic approach to reduce disruptions and minimize downtime.
The Solution
To minimize power outages during the mains power upgrade, Crossmuller altered the original MSB design, enabling the installation of multiple items prior to the scheduled shutdown. This approach significantly reduced disruptions and ensured minimal downtime for the facility. To address the issue of the solar system producing power during generator operation and back feeding power onto the generator, Crossmuller collaborated closely with the existing solar contractor to devise a suitable solution.
Capabilities
Crossmuller managed the relocation of two existing generators using our own Franna equipment and executed trenching with our in-house excavator for external lighting and power.
